FOODIES || my menudo

Pinoy Menudo without tomato sauce. I don't really like tomatoes and liver, and I rarely eat capsicum so this is just perfect for me :) I first tried making this recipe with beef, but pork fared a lot better.

Preparation Time: 20mins
Cooking Time: 50mins

Ingredients:
approx 1 kg pork belly (I used cubed pork belly and sliced them into 4 lengthwise)
1 can of liver spread (liver substitute)
3 small potatoes (sliced lengthwise)
2 carrots (sliced lengthwise)
8 hotdogs (sliced lengthwise)
1 red capsicum/bell pepper (diced)
frozen peas (not a big fan of peas so I added just enough to decorate)
1 onion (minced)
6 cloves of garlic (minced)
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp lemon juice
4 cups of water
salt and pepper
canola oil
2 bay leaves

1. Marinate pork in soy sauce and lemon, do this before you slice up the rest of the ingredients.
2. In medium heat, saute onions in oil until translucent, add garlic and saute for another minute before adding capsicum.
3. When capsicum is tender, add pork and turn up the heat a little higher, stir until oil from pork comes out.
4. Reduce the heat again to medium and add carrots and water. Cover and simmer for 10 mins.
5. Add potatoes, hotdogs, liver spread and bay leaves. Simmer for another 15 mins.
6. Add the peas, salt and pepper to taste. Stir for 2 more mins.
7. Serve hot with steamed rice :D

FOODIES || my malabon fix

I spent almost half of my life in Malabon. I remember going to grade school in my boots, umbrella and raincoat during the rainy/stormy season. And when I was in high school, whenever the road is dry, you’d find me in the streets with my friends, just wandering about, sometimes in a hopper (that’s scooter to some of you). I remember going to my best friend’s house every single day during school break, we’d eat and chat the whole day and talk to guys on the phone. I miss the streets of Malabon, I miss running every morning only to end up in any carinderia (canteen) that sells lugaw, tokwa't baboy (conjee, tofu and pork) and gain back all the calories I had burned, and most especially I miss Malabon food!!! This is what happens when you talk about food...I'm drooling and I can't wait to have some of my fave food from Malabon. Out of all these food, the only thing I can make myself is the Pancit Malabon. I will probably make this noodle this weekend :)

I couldn't find a photo of Tapang Kabayo (horse meat), it is one of my Malabon food fix! *Dreaming of my high school days when I'd go to Nanay Tess's carinderia and order Tapang Kabayo for lunch* Well, at least I get to eat horse meat in Dubai, but it's not tapa and not from PI but from Kaz.az.

bare face

Went to the rooftop for about an hour with J to dip (in the pool) and bake (under the sun). Sun is so so addicting. Then we played for a bit in the gym hee hee as if! Just before taking a shower, I decided to play a little more, this time with make up. Its really a wonder what make up can do to your face! And no I'm not afraid to take a photograph of my bare face :)

Straight from the cam, I wish I know how to use Photoshop...I need lessons!
So who's to say that I haven't showered? :D

hmm...this is what it looks like when you do that to my face! :|

 I need more highlights...

Today's another day.

a lot like love?

It was a lot like love, so what went wrong? There are so many factors why relationship ends. I don't wanna go thru those factors right now, when its over... its over, its done, khalas! You can never take back what's been done. It's probably for the best that you two called it quits.

We all have different ways in getting over someone. Some people need to surround themselves with other people, cos they don't wanna be alone. I think it's great, it's normal. But as for me, I would rather be alone for days or weeks or months, which is not cool cos it affects my relationship with my family and friends too.

Moving on is...lets face it, it's painful. You just got your heart broken by someone you really love. How do you move on? Especially when you're in the same city, particularly in the same area/street and you can see his apartment from where you live, it's torture! What do you do? Move to another country! Ok it's drastic, but it works. Getting on with your life would be much easier if there isn’t going to be a chance you two would cross paths. Knowing that he is on another side of the planet, it won't give you an idea to show up in a place where he frequent most. Another way which proved to be very popular, and a lot less hassle than packing your bags and getting on a plane is to “get under someone else”. You know what they say, “to get over someone, get under someone else”. That works pretty well! Trust me I know! Other things you can do is divert your attention, find a new hobby or you already had a hobby but stopped doing it so you can spend more time with that ex, try and do that again. Go out with friends, but steer clear from the things that you and your ex used to do together, you don’t wanna get caught in the middle of a queue at the cinemas, sobbing and murmuring how the two of you used to fight over which movie to watch at the same cinemas. If you’re a talker, talk to some random people, its amazing what you can find out and what you can learn from strangers. Since you’re a talker I assume you’d know where to find random people :P if you’re the silent type, creating a journal and pouring out all your thoughts is really comforting.

Remember only your relationship ended not your life. The more pain you feel the more stronger you're going to be.

waking up early on a weekend!

Had a quiet Thursday night in, Julia Roberts marathon (My Bestfriend’s Wedding and Pretty Woman), hair colour at home with Tita Wen plus vodka7. Almost relaxing if not for the boisterous little monsters :D

Very eventful Friday morning. Awakened by the doorbell and couldn’t go back to sleep again with all my oldies chattering :D so I got up and changed into something comfortable and started my not-so-planned exercise with a good friend.

Can't wait for the good things to happen...soon!

making faces

My plan yesterday didn’t materialise, I ended up making faces! I first made a Katy Perry ET inspired make up on Icey. I like working on Icey’s face as she’s old enough and easy to work on. I don't have a photo though, cos it would make a bigger statement complete with the hair and all, it just didn't look right, will do it again soon with all the works. Then I turned Zoe and Liam blue by making Avatar inspired face paint of Neyriti and Jake. I had a bit of a trouble when Zoe fell asleep while I was doing her face sitting on a chair with a pillow on her back, she suddenly woke up and started crying. Oh the joy! I had to retouch her gazillion times and bribed her with a vanilla/strawberry ice cream and kit kat so she would stop crying hee hee! I also ended up painting my face ha ha!

here are the little monsters...

...and i just have to include this foto :D
a smoking Na'vi :D
...not that! this one! :p

I had so much fun doing the laundry and cleaning the flat last night wearing my Avatar inspired face.

Avatar sequel coming on 2014!

dream/nightmare and airbrush

I woke up and had this question in my head...did I just have another dream or nightmare? Every morning I’d wake up approximately an hour before my alarm goes off and I had this strange sensation like I was dreaming, but for the life of me couldn’t remember even a wee bit of my dream…nightmare…whatever.

Okkk enough babbling, I have to visit Sephora in Dubai Mall and see if they carry Temptu Airbrush Makeup System. I read so many great reviews about it and I can’t wait to get my hands on this baby, try it myself and if I’m 100% convinced I “might” (cos for sure it’s gonna be more pricey here, it retails in www.sephora.com at USD 225) get it and practice my airbrushing skills. But I have a very strong feeling I’m gonna fall in love with it and it’s going to break my heart if I try it and never take it home with me :D

Here’s half wishing it’s not available here in the UAE ha ha!

my blog is dead

My blog's been dead for over a year...but I'm in the process of reviving and giving it a whole new look :-) Well, I wasn't an active blogger anyways, I used to feel like it really needs a lot of effort from my part which I didn't like cos I'm lazy :D

Been having nightmares the past few weeks which left me feeling down and miserable when I wake up.

I'm in dire need of an outlet, so might as well blog...and soon vlog :D
